I know folks living in WV, including a former miner. From what I’ve learned, the industry does all it can to keep other potential options out. but I’m sure it can’t do so forever..

I’m fully aware that blasting is always a part of mining whether in room and pillar and long wall operations as well as in strip and open pit mines but thanks for the gratuitous snark anyway.

These monstrous MTRs are open air and killing members of the general public.

The fact remains that many communities rely on coal mining for their very survival. Until the green power industry actively starts recruiting and hiring these same people to work in equally well-paying jobs, it will never be able to compete with coal.
