All this is no revolation to those who have been following this disaster- only to the Japanese officials when they finally had to disclose it to the very people they are sworn to protect and serve.Radiation levels have been astrinomical sinse March, and officials knew about it and did nothing. They continue to drag their feet regarding the total impact on the entire enviroment.
The Russians at least had the good sense to cover up Chernobyl instead of trying to save the mess with no regard for the enviroment or the people affected.
Fukushima is corporate greed and government laxness at its finest!
Ask yourself could it happen here in the US?

Tepco's and the Japanese government's reaction to this catastrophe, from the beginning, sort of reminds me of that scene near the end of "Animal House" where the cadet is yelling at the maruading crowd, "Don't panic! All is well! Stay calm!"
And then they promptly stampede over him...
(yes, yes, I know it's Kevin Bacon. keep it to yourselves, stargazers...)

MUST SEE CNN video! Google Tsinghua University pebble bed gas reactor - Yes! they do so have a better system up and running! CANDU reactors fueled with Thorium, producing no plutonium, benign waste products in operation in China as we speak! Canadian scientists played a role. China perfects an old, safe, plutonium free, benign waste product, forsaken, U.S. nuclear methodology, the Thorium fueled LFTR reactor. Google this - learn the truth.
Germany did the math, closing reactors, going Solar, Wind Wave, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal, Bio-Mass, Anaerobic humanure digestion, Super -insulation, will be nuke free in a decade! By Law! Denmark already is, and is a net energy exporter too!
Canada wide awake! Alberta's premiers go for Chinese, Thorium fueled LFTR-reactors to save Canadian Natural gas wasted in the Tar Sands by astoundingly inefficient American recovery technologies used there now.
Today, Monday, August 8th 2011, marks the beginning of the end of the American Empire as we know it! Yankee Doodle got a "thumbs Down" from Asian markets lat night, he is poorer by far today, and we don't know what tomorrow will bring, but just a side note, the Canadian Prime Minister, Harper, is on the ball, cutting deals around the world to make up for the lost American market.
