In the 1970s, a Finnish major manufacturer of washing machines, fridges (relates to text below) and PVC piping, namely UPO Oy made a protoseries of solar-cell powered fridges, suited for carrying by camels.

As the Editor-in-Chief of Finnish Electronics News (1969-1975) I wrote an article on the product that unfortunately was ahead of its time in those years.
Today UPO Oy is focused on sewage systems, piping and the like and is running well in that sector.
