Scientific research paper on the 200m tower's efficiency quote 0.2%. Solar photovoltaics are around the 20 ish %.
Glass or acrylic supported roofs are directly costable from construction cost guideline books published and used by developers, designers, and constructors around the world and blow the economics of this out of the water with even the simplest of examinations.

However.....................

Some real simple solvable issues exist with the arrangement, configuration used that ignores some basic scientific tenants and contain some accidental errors that derive from the arrangement. The efficiency can be lifted 100's of times by resolving these simple errors they are that bad.

This puts it in the competitive 20% ish bracket and makes it perhaps possible.
Small sample 14m high 14 m diameter. Any funders out there????
