Numerous studies have debunked the claim that Spain's in the situation it's
in because of its Green Jobs push. The Green Jobs push has kept it from
being in an even worse situation. Yes, it is common sense for some people to
invest in the long term and save money, unlike the common sense you are
proposing here.

Spain's unemployment rate is over 20% because they jumped on the Green Jobs bandwagon with both feet. It's simple economics. As a consumer, why would I spend $40 on an LED light bulb when I can spend $1 on an incandescent? The LED lasts longer (which is nice)...but the cost difference is Far too great. How much over $40 would the LED bulb cost without all the taxpayer funded subsidies? Government shouldn't help or hinder the private sector. The free market works just fine by itself. If LED bulbs can be made (without subsidies) to be price competitive with incandescent and fluorescent bulbs, I'll buy them. Cree, Philips, and the rest need to compete Without My Tax Dollars....just like almost every other business in the country. Every day the government props up companies/industries with subsidies (whether it's corn, oil, solar panels, or LEDs), the more we can expect to look like Spain....massive debt, massive taxes, massive unemployment.
