OK. So a train comes along every fifteen minutes and the thing spins for maybe 20 seconds? And there will be some real cost in materials, energy and labor to build them, install them and wire them into a power grid. Could they ever generate enough power to recoup their cost of manufacture? It’s a corn/ethanol sort of dream (scam).

I’ve got a basic physics question.

If you use the wind displaced from a passing train to drive a turbine/whatever, are you not creating back pressure for the passing train thus increasing the energy needed to power the train?

Physics provides no free lunches. There’s a principal about that, I seem to recall….
