The key problem here is that our elected representatives are BOUGHT by millions of dollars that talk far louder than the voices of reason.
These millions of dollars are short sightedly invested by lobbyists only interested in short term gains that can be achieved before the next election.

Either the lobbyists & their backers stop being stupid & greedy and start thinking, listening, and investing in the long term gains of renewable energy - and sustainable trade & production.

Or it's time for the US people to muster up the media exposure, financial backing, and "people power" to stop the lobbyists from privatising democracy and running the country into the ground.

One reason why politicians, of both parties, don't get it is because of the crappy position in which we have placed them.

One can't bring about change unless they are elected to office. One can't win an election without huge amounts of campaign money. The sources of campaign funds are largely major corporations and special interest groups.

The fossil fuel industry is huge. The wind, solar, and geothermal industries are tiny in comparison. Fossil fuel can donate huge amounts of money. Renewable industries can't.
