Australia's coal exports are the elephant in the room, here downunder. There is much political rhetoric about addressing climate change, yet they also talk about how great the minerals industry is at helping deliver one of the best performing economies in the world. When climate scientists such as James Hansen talk about the need to soon phase out coal altogether, that seems to fall on deaf ears here. We are going to have to face it at some stage.
