How can the military do this more efficently? Is not

the market driven force the way to keep prices down? Tina the only thing the military has is the WILL to do this. They know that every dollar NOT spent on oil will save Americans lives in the future. The US military is THE BIGGEST consumer of oil in the world. If the Republicans in the House & Senate had a brain between them they would see that the safety of the FREE WORLD is in there hands and they dropped the ball. Just say no hurts every person in this country for what reason? So they can be re-elected? I thought they would do the work for all people not just THEIR donors. I want an abundent energy supply for every man, woman, and child with clean air and water. If we get it through the military so be it but if we as people would work together politics be damned it could happen so much faster.

Thanks for your comment and sorry I didn't make my point clear. I was not referring to advocates for cap and trade. I was referring to those who advocate for harvesting domestically sourced fossil fuels at a rate that meets or exceeds our current pace.

Tina:

You say, "It is beyond ironic that many of the same politicians and pundits who would otherwise profess to support our troops have instead blocked this goal at every opportunity." Could it be that those that block what is presented might possibly believe the economics of the presentation just do not work in todays world at this time. I have no beef with the military but they can do things much more aggressively and what appears to be more economically than programs driven by the Washington establishment. In fact the military as in times past can do things and test them out (the good and the bad) that will be meaningful for the general public so more power to them for this effort. I challenge you to look very closely and look at the economic projections (both sides) of what the Cap and Trade bill will do for this country. I don't see it as a good thing in its current format. Why are we not doing incrementally what the military is doing, testing the hypotheses of each product offering and seeing how it works??
