Anything we can do to reduce and eventually rid ourselves of oil for transportation and power will only assist in all matters of and for life.

Easily said.

We also have to rid our world of spent fuel. Where are we on fusion? If the 'tales' are close to accurate, it would mean unlimited power. Also doing a great job of ridding the planet of unwanted materials.

We know wind - fairly well. Solar will improve. With a large push we could get fusion off the ground and then sell the technology to the rest of the world. More interestingly, with enough cheap power, we could find ways to wire the entire world and sit back and collect the revenues. This would allow all of us to remove ourselves from the middle east.

Tantalizing thought WHAT???

Good point.

Naysayers who claim renewables will raise household energy costs seem to always conveniently over look the fact that the 'fuel' in renewables is free.

There's no need to dig it out of the ground, process it and transport it across the nation in 20,000 ton trains.

With renewables the energy literally falls out of the sky and is 100% free and inexhaustible.
