This article speaks of the fear and resistance by those with no experience in renewable energies. And this is even before they realize--or do they?--that an enhanced geothermal system in Basel, Switzerland, has been pretty clearly linked to earthquakes, though small ones so far.

and

Now Basel (like San Francisco) is a region with a relatively recent history of seismic activity. I hope Oklahoma is not. I'm sure that Senator Inhofe keeps up on news coming out of Europe. Maybe the planned site is so far from any cities that it doesn't matter if the earth quakes a bit.

I hate to bring up the issue of earthquakes, but if those of us in favor of renewable energy don't forthrightly address the topic, others with their "drill, baby, drill" agenda surely will.

Those people, typically, would be more likely to try to put Basel in their salad--oh, that's basil-- than think of traveling there, and Switzerland might as well be Swaziland. But once they finally get on the issue, they would surely run with it. So it would be "drill, baby, drill" as long as it's for oil, but not if it's for geothermal.
