Which renewable energy to invest in? For each state, that answer is different. So where a state has a choice, the New Rules Project has laid out this easy decision-maker graph to help. There are many more detailed graphs at the study showing the additional cost per kwh to build each energy resource, for each state that is different.
What is striking is how cheap “negawatts” are. One reason that I suspect efficiency is so cheap, is that there is no inefficiency lobby mounting an expensive disinformation campaign decade after decade, to convince the stupidest among us to stay inefficient. To keep using poor insulation for example – the equivalent of the non-renewable lobby attempt to stave off renewable power. The cheap insulation industry just doesn’t have much clout.
