During hard times, people can't afford not to invest in renewable, or perpetual, if you will, Solar energy, to get tax cuts and cut power bills, forever, on a utility that raises it's price quickly as the market will bear. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for guaranteed returns on investment! Soon enough the OPEC folks will have the price of oil out of reach again, making everything we buy much more expensive. They have publicly stated that they want $80.00 bbl this time around, and will cut production until they get it! Remember: OPEC is designed to maintain THEIR high standard of living not OUR standard of living! and there is no more oil anywhere else in the world! We have to get off of oil, and soon, Yankee Doodle!

Multiple revenue streams is one way to enhance the financial model of alternative by allowing for parallel use of land, and finding more efficient storage options is key for capturing the maximum amount of energy during peak generation times for use later. What has to happen is a continued push for innovation, despite the temporary dip in fossil fuel costs.
