This is exactly what we need. Anyone who is concerned about global warming should be behind nuclear power. Solar and wind are great, but energy consumption will only continue to rise so this is the only way to burn less coal.

In the short run we curb our carbon production but in the long run we just create a new mess for our children to deal with. Rising energy consumption doesn’t justify another short-sighted approach.

Same tired arguments against nuclear. Our poor children! Spent nuclear fuel can be reprocessed resulting in much less radioactive waste. That waste can be buried underground and in time will cease to be radioactive. These new, small reactors sound like they have solved most of the problems. What exactly does rising energy consumption justify? If we learn from the past its more coal, more oil, more natural gas. Are we really going to live in fear or are we going to have some faith in human ingenuity to solve these problems?
