There is not one person on the planet who did not buy an I-pod for environmental reasons! If you say you are one of these people you are lying! This is just another stupid gimmick....I'll bet some people throw out their current I-pod just to replace it with this one so they look more green! Such a waste of time, money and energy.

I still say they should have gone for the bamboo casing instead of aluminum, but I guess some people still shy away from bamboo due to preconceived notions that it's too weak to work as a casing...

Who cares? Earlier? Iturd? I don't understand the problem; Apple did something good. It's cooooool. Nobody is going to make Bobmob buy one. News to ADAM: business is controlled by money. If your beef with Apple is that their transparent concern for loss deems their ingenuity useless, then you have a lot to learn about capitalism. I guess we all just have to deal with it. Good job citizens--we got what we demanded! Because of money? probably. If you don't want money to be the engine, then focus on your family and friends, not on multinational corporations. I personally like Ipods, even though I don't use one, yet.

I agree Ariel -- it'd have been nice if Apple had taken these steps earlier. I guess the pressure Greenpeace exerted with its Greener Apple campaign made Apple fear bad PR/lost sales. I've written my verdict on how eco the new 4G Nano is here:
