		<description>Did not the permafrost melt during the Med Warm Period so that the Vikings could settle and farm the south east of Greenland. But as I understand it has not melted yet so not as warm as when the Vikings arrived.

That melting ice is not entirely a function of temperature &gt; there may not be a simple causal relationship between heat and melt &gt; other factors are at work and we are not able to investigate different causal relationships due to short lifespan, assumption and other factors such as being bound to the physics of our planet</description>
